YASID Welcomes International Volunteer to Inspire English Learning at Rohingya Learning Centre

A Basic Spoken English class for Rohingya adolescents at Camp 22 welcomed a special guest on 20 July 2026, as Phillip, a volunteer from the United States, joined the session organized by the Youth Alliance for Sustainable International Development (YASID).

Phillip participated in a series of interactive English activities and informal conversations with the learners, encouraging them to practice speaking in a relaxed and supportive environment. His visit gave the adolescents an opportunity to use their English skills in real-life communication while building confidence in speaking with a native English speaker.

Throughout the session, learners actively engaged in discussions, asked questions, and practiced everyday English expressions. Phillip's friendly and approachable manner helped create an atmosphere where participants felt comfortable communicating without fear of making mistakes.

For many of the adolescents, the session was their first opportunity to interact directly with a visitor from another country. The experience not only strengthened their spoken English skills but also introduced them to a different cultural perspective, making the learning process more meaningful and engaging.

YASID's Basic Spoken English Course continues to provide Rohingya adolescents with practical language-learning opportunities that enhance communication skills, encourage confidence, and support personal development through interactive and learner-centred activities.
